I wrote this one for The Five back toward the end of my tenure in Pittsburgh. Back then one generally didn’t hear this type of country western shit-kicker anthem in rock clubs.
We recorded it in Boston with Lou Giordano, but never released it. Might’ve gotten some airplay as a radio thing. On the other hand, Boston did require a certain amount of self-medication.
Years later, versions of "Stop It (Or I’ll Drink Myself To Death)" have been recorded and actually released by my friends Sluggo and Laurian’s old band Ain’t (San Francisco) on their album Slap The Judge, and Andrew Uhlemann’s country western outlaws Hack Mack Jackson (Hamburg, Germany).
